to be 316,000.
Approximately 23% is over the age of 65 and the number is growing yearly.
Seniors play an important role in our community by participating in the many
non-profit and charity organizations.
Volunteer and senior services opportunities are abundant throughout
the area, as well as plenty of opportunities to relax or get involved in Ocala’s
active senior community.
If you are looking for an organization where
you can use your talents as a volunteer, review the list of opportunities

United
Way of Ocala
Mission is to unite local resources to help our neighbors.
Volunteers build relationships, oversee community fundraising, and
plan events and other duties.

West Marion Community Hospital
There are a variety of services from which to
choose. Every effort is made to match your interests with available service
areas: Information Desk, Gift Shop, Pharmacy, Waiting Rooms, Radiology, Food
Service, Ancillary Departments, Medical Records, Human Resources, Emergency

Hospice of Marion County
There are a variety of services performed such as providing companionship in the
patients home, easing the burden of the family through respite care, greeting
visitors and assisting with meal preparation in the Hospice House, serving the
thrift stores, office support and assisting with special events.

Hands
of Mercy Everywhere, Inc
HOME provides a Christian home to homeless pregnant or unwed teenagers and their
babies.
Nursery help is always appreciated.

Kimberly's
Cottage
A child victim
advocate and therapists extraordinaire.
Servicing more than 700 children a year with an 85% success rate they
provide specialized case management, mental health therapies and child advocacy.
Volunteer help of any kind will be appreciated.
The campus is a 45,000 square foot facility which is becoming the
prototype for other agencies around the nation.

Domestic
Violence and Sexual Assault Victims
of Domestic violence placed 4,819 calls in 2006.
45,235 pieces of information and referrals were provided to victims
from staff, trained counselors and volunteers.

Taylor
Bean Foundation, Inc The
foundation partners with the community and organizations like Habitat for
Humanity to help people in the community.
Through the generous fundraising efforts the foundation has become a

House, Inc
Volunteers who are seeking to work with youth and families would provide
positive leadership, mentoring within the agency and fundraising within the
community. The
Arnette House serves as an outreach to protect the public by preventing juvenile
delinquency and child abuse through counseling, social services and community
involvement.
Appleton
Museum of Art
The Appleton provides volunteer training, an opportunity to meet people, learn
new skills and donate a valuable service.

Andrew
F Semesco Foundation
The foundation was founded in 2001.
Goals include funding, promoting and conducting scientific research in
the molecular pathogenesis of oral, head and neck cancers. The foundation
sponsors and develops innovative methods for prevention, detection and treatment
of these fatal cancers. Fundraisers include their annual “Semesco Shamble” Golf
Tournament and raffle events.

Camp
Boggy Creek
Volunteers who want to work with children dealing chronic or like-threatening
illnesses can join General Norman Schwarzkopf and Paul Newman, Co-founders, by
helping to create camping experiences that are memorable, exciting, empowering,
physically safe, fun, and medically sound.
There is no charge for the clients to attend and the organization has
served over 33,000 children and family members.
Nearly 1,700 volunteers are needed annually to perform such duties as
mentoring, activity helpers, kitchen help, office help, certified life guards,
arts and crafts.
Fundraising events include an annual Daytona Harley-Davidson Ride, Champagne
Ball, live and silent auctions and other events.
Together they raise over $500,000 annually.
