Marion County is the 5th largest county in Florida.  Marion County is approximately in the middle of Florida, midway between the Gulf of Mexico at Crystal River and the Atlantic Ocean at Ormond and Daytona Beach (East-West axis) and halfway between Pensacola and Miami (North-South axis).  You'll notice that Ocala is just about in the middle of Marion County.  The county is laid out in quadrants, NE, NW, SE, SW, with the center of Ocala as the 0 point for addresses.  Avenues run north and south, streets run east and west. This makes it pretty easy to find most addresses in Marion County, as most of the streets and avenues are numbered in a logical order (i.e.: 1st street-100th street).  Silver Springs Shores is different, with named streets, like Pine Road, Pine Pass, Pine Terrace, Pine Court, Pine Pass Court, Pine Terrace Place, etc.
